After only five rounds of matches in a 38-week long English
Premier League, Conlogger Sports has identified about five managers who
face are likely to sacked by owners of their clubs before the season
ends.
In no particular order, below are five managers in the EPL that face sack before the end of the season:
Tottenham Hotspur Manager: Mauricio Pochettino
In spite of the stars on parade at the North-London club, the club is lagging in twelfth position in the league courtesy of their first league win last week.
Its possession of Harry Kane has not lifted the club’s status in the league, and a continuation of the dismal performance is not likely to guarantee the manager’s place in the club.
For a club which has been a regular in the Europa league in recent years and only lost a Champions League spot to rivals, Arsenal a few seasons ago, it is quite disappointing how they have remained static on the log.
From the look of things, Chairman David Levy may be looking out to ensure the club comes up in its bid to secure Champions League football, although that looks more unlikely in the league.
Sunderland Manager: Dick Advocaat
Although they have not always been a Champions League club, the club manager has been given all he needs to succeed in the club.
They are presently in the relegation zone and are looking more likely to ‘retain’ their place as the other teams seem to have been invigorated by the start to the new football season in England’s elite football league.
Advocaat, the Dutch man, whom many expect to ensure the Dutch footballing philosophy in the club, believes so much in his team, and has said that he does not care how the team play but to get results.
With the situation of things at the club, it is only a matter of time before the manager is sent packing, especially with the competitive nature of the EPL.
Chelsea Manager: José Mourinho
It will take special grace for owner Roman Abramovic not to sack the self-styled ‘Special One’ in his second spell at the North-London club, with the club’s present position on the log.
Mourinho is yet to win a premier league game in the last three, including home loss to Crystal Palace as well as defeat by Everton.
The club’s next game is against Arsenal at home, and the former Real Madrid will seek to avoid consecutive defeats at home in the EPL.
Odds were also recently against him as the first EPL manager who will be sacked this season, although he has since refuted such claims.
Southampton Manager: Ronald Koeman
Last season, the then newly-employed Koeman had thrown a banter at Arsenal, claiming that they would finish the season ahead of the Arsene Wenger-led side.
But, he was later made to eat his words as they not only finished way below the Gunners, they also finished barely qualified for the Europa League.
This season, however, things have not been particularly rosy for the Saints, and although they are not troubled at the moment, they do not seem to be flying as they ought to.
Stoke City Manager: Mark Hughes
As experienced as he is, Mark Hughes’ team is lagging behind in the EPL, as one of the worst teams so far this season.
Having coached the likes of Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City, among others, Hughes presents the Potters their very best opportunity of survival, but it is looking more dim as his players have not been up to scratch.
With their eighteenth place on the log, the coach is not likely not to survive in his third season at the Britannia stadium, as the ambitious owners will need to get one better than they presently are now. Although some of his key players have suffered career-threatening injuries in the recent past, the coach has no excuse not to have strengthened in the recently-closed transfer window.
A report surfaced yesterday, about the huge amounts of money being spent on each premier league game by gamblers, most of them illegal, as the EPL remains the most watched league in the whole world.
